The Edris House

Designed by E. Stewart Williams, Edris House was added to the National Register of Historic Places last year. Williams was a prolific Californian architect whose distinctive modernist buildings influenced the mid-century modern style popularized today. His work significantly shaped the Coachella Valley's architectural landscape and legacy. Friends of Williams, the Edris family, gave him complete artistic freedom in designing the home and no budget limitations. Williams designed the home to look “as if it grew out of the ground rather than falling out of the sky.”
