Annette Gallo’s career has straddled various disciplines. Spanning photography, PR, strategy, and, more recently, digital, Gallo’s trajectory has always been informed by an interest in the visual. “When I was asked to come on as the CMO of Warburg, a high-end Real Estate agency, I jumped at the chance. What surprised me time and again was the lack of creative elements in the world of property. Every industry I worked in previously had paid such close attention and care to the branding.”
From this lack was born Gallo’s latest venture, Gallo Ward. “When I met my business partner, Craig Ward, we decided to do just that, bring together our collective 25+ years of experience and create something extraordinary and unique in the property and hospitality space.” The two founded their own agency in 2018, and have set out to provide strategy and creative solutions for the art, architecture, hospitality and real estate industries.
Starting a creative agency has not been without its challenges or doubts. “We have definitely already experienced that panic moment when you question giving up a cushy salaried position. There are days that I think, ‘God what have I embarked on’ and days where I know, in my gut, that we have started something extraordinary. Luckily the latter weighs out the first.”
Though Gallo Ward is a young agency, they are already hard at work on various projects; among them is a public art project with renowned architecture firm, Diller Scofidio and Renfro. “I can’t say too much at this point because it has not been made public, but it’s going to be an exceptional and widely attended event in NYC in October. It’s a dream project at the intersection between architecture, space, and art.”
Of collaborating with her co-founder Craig and with others in her industry, Gallo says: “You cannot be the best at every single thing. Being the best in a few select areas, and then knowing the best of the best everywhere else, always makes for the perfect marriage, and ultimately the most beautiful projects.”
