Ashok Sinha is a New York City–based architectural and fine art photographer and director whose work captures a sense of place tied to both built and natural environments. A travel assignment photographing Oscar Niemeyer’s Niteroi Contemporary Art Museum sparked a practice that now spans commercial, editorial, and fine art projects.
His editorial work appears in many publications such as The New York Times, Architectural Digest, Wallpaper*, Interior Design along with brand collaborations with Chase, Sennheiser, Intercontinental Hotels and Zanotta among others. Ashok’s monograph ‘Gas and Glamour’, 2nd ed., (Kehrer Verlag, 2022) was named a top photo book of the year by The Wall Street Journal and Los Angeles Magazine, and his fine art images have been exhibited at The Museum of the City of New York, the International Center of Photography, and The Royal Photographic Society.
He also directs and shoots documentary shorts. Forgotten Artisans of New York (2024) won Best Documentary Short at the Long Island International Film Expo; Sticker City (2019) was selected for Amazon’s All Voices Film Festival; and Pigeon Kings of Brooklyn (2015) is a Vimeo Staff Pick.
Ashok is a founder of Cartwheel Initiative, a nonprofit with a mission to empower at-risk youth through visual storytelling.
