S.A. Baxter, Inc. is a boutique general contracting firm based in San Francisco, specializing in large-scale, architect-led residential remodels and additions throughout the city and select Marin County communities. Founded by master carpenter Sid Baxter, the firm has completed more than 250 remodels over the past twenty-four years, building a reputation for precision, discipline, and craftsmanship that endures well beyond the final walkthrough.
Sid’s path to building was anything but conventional. After earning a degree in English Literature from the University of Georgia in 1994, he moved to California and found himself drawn to working with his hands. He launched Sid Baxter Carpentry in 1999, running decks and small remodels solo out of his van before hiring his first employee in 2004. As projects grew larger and more complex, he earned his General Contractor’s license and later incorporated as S.A. Baxter, Inc.—named in honor of his great grandfather—marking a deliberate shift toward sophisticated whole-home remodels executed in close partnership with architects and designers.
Today, S.A. Baxter, Inc. is a six-person team known for its stewardship-driven approach: protecting each client’s investment and time by serving as their advocate, partner, and coach from pre-construction to completion and beyond.
