John Raskin, President of Spring Street Climate Fund, is a seasoned organizer and political strategist with proven leadership experience winning high-impact policy campaigns in New York City and State. At Spring Street, he has played key roles in the successful campaign to pass the All-Electric Building Act and the ongoing push to pass the NY HEAT Act, which would begin to wind down New York’s expensive and dirty gas distribution network. Previously, as Executive Director of the Riders Alliance, he helped lead successful campaigns to win congestion pricing, Fair Fares for low-income transit riders, and billions of dollars of new investment in public transportation.

John has also served as a chief of staff in the New York State Senate, as a member of the governing board of Brooklyn Bridge Park, and as a board member of The States Project, a national organization dedicated to building power in state legislatures. He lives in Brooklyn with his husband and two children.

Spring Street Climate Fund runs strategic issue campaigns to win world-leading climate policy in New York that can make a difference on a global scale. Since its founding in 2021, Spring Street helped to win a requirement for new buildings to be built fossil fuel-free; a statewide mandate to transition to zero-emission school buses; and a tax abatement that will help 200,000 households in New York City afford to rewire and electrify their homes. We act as a force multiplier in the climate movement, helping supercharge the grassroots organizing that can turn New York into a powerful force for progress.
