I am an interior designer that focuses on health, wellness and sustainability within the environments that I design.
I began working in the interior design field about 28 years ago after graduating with an Interior Architecture degree. I interned with several designers and architects before starting out on my own. While I raised three daughters, I completed the NCIDQ and worked as much as my schedule would allow. After my third daughter was in college, I began a graduate degree in Sustainable Environments at The New York School of Interior Design (NYSID.) I also embraced the science behind sustainability and pursued the LEED AP and WELL AP credentials along with several other credentials that have helped to teach me about energy efficiency, carbon neutrality and healthy materials for both building and interiors.
I recently began teaching Residential Interior Design to undergraduates at NYSID. I love being able to share my passion for sustainability, energy and water efficiency and healthy materials with my students. I am also in the process of setting up a partnership with two other New York interior designers where we can consult with other designers, architects, builders and planners on specifying sustainable products. In addition to consulting, we would like to project manage any LEED, WELL or International Living Future Petal Certifications. We are also hoping to help businesses with Declare Labels, Environmental Product Declarations (EPD’s) and qualifying for New York City’s Local Environmental Laws (Ie: LL94,95,96,97.)
I have always enjoyed traveling around the world and immersing myself in different cultures. I love color and texture and enjoy collecting unique objects in markets and villages to accent my interiors. My style is sophisticated but eclectic mixing high and low to create truly one of a kind spaces. I really enjoy my career and love meeting new people who can teach me more about the world around me. There is nothing better than meeting family, new friends or trusted colleagues while sharing a delicious meal in an au courant restaurant somewhere in the world just waiting to be explored. My passion for food, culture, art, and people is palpable and is the best reason to wake up in the morning.
