Sam Simmonds

Design Manufacturer

“Good design changes the way we see and show up in the world. It can alter our lives in the moment and over time. It can bring the best out of you and affect others.”

This is the founding philosophy of Metier Interiors – a new studio by Sam Simmonds that designs and builds luxury kitchens and furniture by hand. With an eye toward making both what’s seen and unseen felt, Metier Interiors is built on decades of experience working with the world’s most prestigious showrooms and kitchen manufacturers.

Sam’s appreciation for the details started three decades ago during his apprenticeship in carpentry and joinery in England, where he spent seven days a week learning the artform of furniture making from a dedicated craftsman. The success of Sam’s first business, where he led installations for prestigious showrooms around the UK, solidified his belief that exquisite delivery shouldn’t only pertain to the finished product. While others approached projects with a sales-first, client-second philosophy, Sam focused on making the process more collaborative and human-centric, putting the client and the craft ahead of everything else.

In 2014, Sam moved to NYC where he helped take a local kitchen showroom national, building out spaces in Chicago, Atlanta and other major cities. His expertise in building a frictionless design process set the foundation for a new operational system that powered a successful U.S. expansion. Sam’s most recent business partnered with other celebrated showrooms across the States, providing even deeper insight into different approaches. It was the amalgamation of these experiences that cemented Sam’s own ideas and the creation of Metier Interiors.

Today, the studio brings together craftsmanship honed across decades with the world’s most exacting artisans and fabricators. These award-winning partners share Sam’s vision for quality and care, for building spaces that are made to affect. Metier Interiors offers a hospitality style experience grounded in the belief that building your kitchen is a conversation. That the space should fill you up in the moment and long after you leave. That every design can change how you see the world and what you bring to it.
