Virtual Tour: At The Luss House with Blum & Poe, Mendes Wood DM and Object & Thing

Continuing our Site Tours series (virtually!), we're thrilled to offer Brick & Wonder members and their guests a chance to tour The Gerald Luss House in Ossining, NY on the occasion of the exhibition, At The Luss House, organized by Blum & Poe, Mendes Wood DM and Object & Thing. At The Luss House continues to explore the possibilities of connecting today’s artistic ideas with those of past eras through the presentation of contemporary art and design within an architect’s own domestic environment as the organizers also did last fall at the home of industrial designer and Harvard Five architect, Eliot Noyes.

An influential designer and architect, Gerald Luss is best known for his large-scale corporate projects during the post-World War II building boom in Manhattan, including the 350,000 square feet of interiors for the famed Time-Life office building (1959) on Avenue of the Americas in midtown Manhattan—the epitome of midcentury modern skyscraper design.

We're thrilled to team up with the exhibition's organizers to facilitate this tour and will also be joined by Gerald Luss himself, who at 94 years old is a collaborative partner in the exhibition, lending examples of his furniture and designs.

    Expanding Business Ownership

As your business grows, it becomes increasingly critical to retain senior team members that have deep institutional knowledge, valuable client and collaborator relationships, and tailored experience in core business activities.

One of the best means available to promote retention is a structured business ownership program, which gives senior leaders a stake in business outcomes. In this Roundtable, we'll discuss the notion of expanding business ownership by extending Profits Interests or Shares (of different kinds) to senior team members.

The session will be co-led by Ralph Steinglass and Robert Herrmann, two experts who have helped many of their client's businesses structure expanded ownership programs.

Digital Advertising can be a great way to build brand awareness, generate inbound leads, and to support content marketing campaigns.

However, for newcomers, selecting the right platforms and tools to use, designing campaign strategies, setting goals and budgets can make the whole process off-putting. In this session Digital Advertising expert, Taryn Ramos (Content Project @ Google), will guide you in thinking through how to make a start, set strategy and optimize ad spend, even when working with a limited budget. This event is open to Brick & Wonder members and upto two of their teammates.

    On Time & On Budget

Regardless of the discipline, delivering projects on-time and on-budget is difficult. When the project is a building, the collaborators are many and the risks (financial and physical) high, on-time and on-budget delivery can seem like a unicorn fantasy.

But there are methods, teams, approaches and collaborators who succeed. What are they doing right? What are others doing wrong? When we fail in this aspiration, how do we manage the fallout? Join our season co-leaders as they share insights gleaned from many years' experience and a variety of industry perspectives. This members' session will be co-led by Victoria Cabanos, Managing Principal, Stuart-Lynn Company and Jon Schippers, President, Steeringhouse Design and Development.
